Patient Care I From The Hospital To Home

Emotional support may have been given at the hospital for reasons that led to enhance the  medical routines you were taking, or are about to consider taking today. Married patients often get emotional support from their spouse and notice over time that it diminishes. This is normal, but should be replaced. So many patients over 40 may not have these supports to begin with. Or are in situations where a little support will keep them in the medical routine. This page tells of how emotional support can benefit the discharge plan under our care.

Many patients in emotional need have come after many people were in these situations before. In general the problem is not new. With respect to human differences aside just for a moment; what worked for some can work for others. Just with one exception. That is, it must have consistency and duration. Quitting & noncompliance is almost a guarantee of failure for everyone involved.

When To Choose Emotional Care

Emotional care is needed when the patient feels exhausted from medical procedures, when an ongoing depression occurs, and when a significant other caregiver becomes sick. The mind may signal us to surrender to the pain and might become exhausted, but amazingly may fight even harder when a little emotional support is given. Sometimes our care is given for a brief period of just 12 weeks.

When it comes to matters of the heart a bigger view is needed. Whether a person is a cardiac patient, or a chronic or brief type mental health condition, both can suffer from medical conditions. These can be intertwined with emotions that can mean successful rehab or hospital return. Anxiety and fear about a recurrence and hospital readmission should be compassionately addressed. This fear  can become so great that patients might falsify their medical condition when having checkups. Or  not do self reporting tests correctly. Like diabetes testing. Worry about a medical condition can feel as worse as the condition.
